Gullet Bar Widths
NB: There are two gullet bar lengths (R and S type) to suit the specific tree designs. *XXW (Silver) size is available in S-Bar only.
Step 1: Use the hex key to remove the 2 screws at the front of each panel.
Step 2: Slide the panel off the point of the tree.
Step 3: Unscrew all four bolts in the gullet bar and remove the gullet bar.
Step 4: Insert different width of gullet bar. Insert all four bolts by hand then secure. Use the indent in the tree to position the bar facing the right way.
Only SimaTree gullet bars are suitable for Thorowgood saddles. You must NOT use any other bar in your Thorowgood saddle.
The S-Bar and R-Bars are not interchangeable. You must use the correct bar for your saddle model.
Multiple Girthing Options
Thorowgood Moveable Block dressage saddles have an optional 'point strap' which can be used to improve saddle stability.
Always start by girthing in the neutral position (2 & 3) with the moveable strap positioned behind the point
If the saddle slips forward, remove the Velcro thigh block, move the billet (girth strap) onto the point (1), passing it through the keeper at the bottom. Reinstate the Velcro thigh block back into position.
DO NOT pass the strap under the block and through the keeper when the billet (girth strap) is behind the point (2). This will cause saddle instability.
1. Clean and feed the leather parts of the saddle (flaps, knee rolls and panels) with a cream conditioner (we recommend Rapide Leathergel). If necessary, wipe off any dirt with a damp cloth first.
2. Wipe down the non-leather sections (skirt) with warm water and a cloth. A mild detergent can be used to remove stubborn dirt. These areas require no further products or conditioners. Remember to clean all surfaces.
3. Avoid products that are glycerine or oil based, or those that contain alcohol (such as spray cleaners)
4. If your saddle has leather stirrup straps, take care NOT to apply saddle soap or conditioner to the surface which comes into contact with the saddle flap.
5. Always allow your saddle to dry naturally. Do not use external heat sources and don't put it on a radiator, or hot pipes.
